In an amalgamation of style, innovation and bold statements, the Met Gala 2024 has once again established itself as the epicenter of art and fashion. Among the apparitions that captured eyes and defined the night, the one of Camila Cabellowho not only dazzled with her clothing, but also introduced one of the most unusual and talked-about accessories of the event: a block of ice.
The 27-year-old singer, recognized for hits like “I LUV IT,” made her entrance to the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York, carrying a block of ice with a black rose encapsulated in its center, instead of the traditional handbag. This element, far from being an arbitrary choice, represented a bold and creative tribute to this year’s theme, The Garden of Time.
“I feel like the theme was very, you know, the march, the things that change,” he explained to Variety the artist when asked about the striking accessory. “But also my album Miami, we’re dripping, we’re wet, we’re freezing, but we’re melting. You know, it’s all a bit,” she added.
Likewise, the musical artist commented a little more about the peculiar accessory, claiming that, in effect, it had been turning into water little by little. “He has about an hour left because things have been falling off. There was a chain link and it was a bag,” the composer explained.
Complementing her eye-catching choice of accessory, Cabello opted for a glitter-filled silver dress, characterized by a provocative high front slit. The artist, who gathered her hair in an elegant ponytail, achieved an image that fuses innovation with elegance, seasoned with a touch of mystery that revolved around her peculiar “bag.”
In another statement for AND! NewsCamila revealed that her dress, a work of extraordinary beauty and complexity, contained 250,000 Swarovski crystals and required more than 450 hours of work to make, weighing almost eight kilograms.
To create this piece, the singer collaborated closely with the stylist Jared Ellner and the designer Ludovic de Saint Serninevidencing a commitment not only to fashion, but to the art of telling stories through clothing.
Beyond her striking visual presence, Cabello surprised with a change of look, showing off her hair dyed platinum blonde, a color she had never adopted before, in the words of her stylist Nikki Lee, looking for a “great moment” for this edition of the gala.
