González participated in the awarding of the winner of the tournament together with Majoj C. Fernando, vice president of the National Baseball Association of Sri Lanka, organizer of the event, highlighted the Cuban embassy in Colombo.

According to the diplomatic source, the honors given to the representative of the Caribbean nation reaffirm the interest of these sports directors in strengthening ties with Cuba, where baseball is the national sport.

It also means recognition of the experience in this discipline of the largest of the Antilles and its important results in international events, the Cuban mission states.

The Sri Lanka Baseball and Softball Association (SLBSA) is affiliated with the global softball confederation WBSC and the Baseball Federation of Asia (BFA).

SLBSA is also recognized by the National Olympic Committee (NOC) and is an approved body by the Ministry of Sports of the South Asian country.

It has members throughout the country, including the Navy, the Army and the Air Force as collaborators, 34 clubs and 20 thousand followers.
