Description submitted by the project team. Residential house, located in Mérida, Yucatán. It has 3 bedrooms, family room, living-dining room, terrace with pool, TV room, garage, utility room, laundry area and an office. The spaces that make up the residence were distributed in such a way that the orientation of the land was taken advantage of, locating the access and the social area to the north, and the service area in the area with the highest temperature; utility room, laying yard, as well as the garage and the machine room. Interior patios with vegetation typical of the region were created in the project to have ventilation and natural lighting inside the residence. Speaking of the materials used for the design and construction of the house, we sought to take advantage of the characteristics they have and give presence to the residence. Some of the materials used in the project are Bajareque, quarry stone, Tzalam wood, travertine marble, chukum water, among others. The gardens and interior patios generate spaces with different sensations without ceasing to be in the same place, seeking to have a connection between the interior and the exterior. The play of heights generates interesting transitions between one space and another, helping to minimize temperatures and generate an environment of well-being and comfort for the user. The arrangement of paths and corridors created with the same construction elements helps to have dynamism with the shadows that are generated inside, creating spaces rich in sensations. The bridge made with wooden covering, the railings with steel sheets, or the low ceilings that allow the entry of natural light and are elements that direct and give particularity to the project.

It was decided to take advantage of the region’s own materials to create the work, not only of a natural nature, such as Bajareque and Tzalam wood, but also the use of prefabricated elements that are used in the town, to optimize resources and construction times. execution. The use of natural elements as part of the structure is part of the very concept of the work, generating warm and natural environments and sensations. The general concept of the project is to develop a home that evokes both the relationship with nature and the generation of different microclimates as one walks through (and lives in) the house. An effort was made to create open-plan, well-ventilated and naturally illuminated environments, without sacrificing the security and privacy of users.

Organizing the spaces according to their functionality, the service area and the social area were arranged on the ground floor, with direct opening to the gardens; and on the upper floor the private area with the rooms was arranged. Adaptability to the urban context is achieved with the use of the heights of the adjacent homes, as a reference, as well as the alignment to the wall; thus contributing to the urban image of a residential area.
