EL NUEVO DIARIO, SANTO DOMINGO.- Cuesta Libros brought the Mexican artist and children’s author, Memo Plastilina, to the country, who unveiled his story books illustrated with putty art and to encourage reading in boys and girls in a fun way through art.

During his stay in the country, the renowned author visited various educational centers where he offered several painting workshops made with putty in order to awaken the creativity of children and allow them to experience reading in an entertaining and creative way. In addition, Memo brought his books and was present at the fourth edition of the International Children’s and Youth Book Fair (FEILIJ) which took place in the central atrium Ágora Mall.

Hans Kuehn, vice president of bookstore at Centro Cuesta Nacional commented, “For Cuesta Libros it is vital to support the love of reading and the development of creativity from an early age. Memo Plastilina offers a fun way to learn about stories, magical characters and explore art with putty for boys and girls ages 5 to 9. However, putty work can also encourage young people and adults.

The stories “Lagartos Terribles”, “Huella” and “Evasaurio” by Memo Plastilina are available in all Cuesta Libros stores and on its website at peselibros.com.

With more than 20 years of experience, Memo has dedicated himself full time to developing himself as an author and illustrator, with an inclination towards texts for children and working with unusual materials to create his graphics, with putty (plasticine) being his main tool. His work has ranged from to countries such as Israel and the United Kingdom, and he is a workshop leader at important cultural events, such as the Guadalajara International Book Fair.

In addition to teaching the workshops, Memo Plastilina visited various media outlets, where he thanked the Dominicans for their warm welcome and described his experiences with the children as very enriching. He also highlighted the great imagination that the children expressed in their artistic creations.
