Book Day in Castellón

Book Day in Castellón
Book Day in Castellón

Last Tuesday we celebrated Book Day at El Corte Inglés in Castellón, an event that has now been held for seven editions. Each guest read a page of the novel 1984of George Orwell, a text written 75 years ago and that could not fit more with the reality of our world. Big brother is watching us, remember.

The mayor inaugurated the day, the bishop followed her, then the delegate of the Consell, the subdelegate of Defense, the subdelegate of the Government, the commander of the Civil Guard… After the civil, ecclesiastical and military authorities it was the turn of the citizens. Names from the cultural world such as Julio César Cano, Luis Aleixandre, Luis Bolumar, Ana Vernia either Jesus Broch, to name just a few, did not miss the appointment. Politicians like Enric Nomdedeu, Ignasi Garcia, Patricia Puerta either Maria Spain neither. Entrepreneurs like Dolores Cortes, Pepe Boix, Jorge Andreu, Saul Viciano either Andres Vera They contributed their vision of the world.

Defense of culture

For ten hours, uninterrupted, we read, yes, and shared with enthusiasm, enjoyed the magnificent gastronomic offer of the center and generated an atmosphere of unwavering commitment to the defense of culture with capital letters.

The General and Provincial hospitals provided half a dozen readers among their medical, administrative and nursing staff. Associations of all kinds, with great ties to the city and the province, willingly participated. And so, every five minutes, we progressed through an exciting read.

Here’s to the book, and here’s to the eighth edition that will be released, God willing, in 2025.
