This is how the eleventh day of FILBo 2024 unfolded

On the eleventh day of the FILBo 2024 programming, it includes cultural, culinary, and artistic exhibitions, as well as book presentations and conversations. The guest country of honor, Brazil, has a series of scheduled activities in its pavilion that seek to publicize aspects of Brazilian culture and literature. Likewise, there is programming in relation to the hundred years of The Maelstrom.

Likewise, we remind you that El Espectador has its agenda of conversations that you can find throughout the fair in pavilion 16, stand 1224. In addition, you can find physical samples of the newspaper.

The champeta and its history

At the El Espectador stand, a talk is taking place about the champeta genre with the band Tribu Baharú, which begins by performing songs from its production.

The band talks about its founding, which took place in Bogotá, but with the fidelity of those Colombian Caribbean and African sounds. However, they point out that its members are from different parts of the country.

One of its members says that to be part of the industry he not only knows how to play instruments or sing, he also points out that one must be aware of the strategy, needs and dynamics of the market.

Conversation with María Jimena Duzan and Laura Ardila

Journalist Sergio Ocampo talks with his colleagues María Jimena Duzán and Laura Ardila.

Ardila, who is the author of La Costra Nostra, a book that delves into the Char dynasty, talks about the reasons behind the popularity of this family, which for her, are a faithful reflection of the social logic that “it doesn’t matter if they steal, but to do something”, which for her is an ethical problem.

For his part, Duzán says that corrupt political clans are a latent phenomenon throughout Colombia. Likewise, he pointed out that Gustavo Petro managed to be the first president who came to power without dominating traditional politics, which is a symptom that there are political dynamics that have been taking shape.

Both journalists refer to the responsibility of the media and their colleagues in the fight against corruption. They mention that there is a sector that has been responsible for perpetuating this phenomenon and evading its ethical duty.

“The country is crying out for a change in policy. Gustavo Petro’s victory is proof of that. Society is active and recognizes corruption and that will continue to be cultivated with journalists who do their job well,” said Duzán.

Zona Z and Daniela Abisambra

Zona Z, a project by El Espectador for the new Espectador, talks with content creator Daniela Abisambra about intergenerational dialogues and how age differences also mark a differentiation in the use of social networks.

Abisambra talks about how he got started in the world of social media, which he encountered after graduating from university as a journalist and internationalist. He assures that when faced with the work dynamic, he realized that it was not what he liked.

In addition to creating content, Abisambra also has a podcast called “Asking for Permission,” in which she talks about topics that challenge her. About that program, there is a chapter in which she mentions that she feels that Journalism and Social Communication is not a complicated and demanding career, which is why she decided to study International Business.

The content creator points out that for her social networks are a reflection of what the person who uses them is. Given this, she says that social networks have allowed her to create a community and find answers to the questions she asks herself.
