Literature, now together with young people through bookfluencers – Comercio y Justicia

The Argentine capital was the epicenter of the continent’s digital literary world, hosting in recent days the 8th International Meeting of Bookfluencers, a space in which young content creators on social networks and literature lovers shared knowledge and experiences in the framework of the 48th Buenos Aires International Book Fair.

The event brought together 71 “influencers” from the world of literature and writing, both local and international, who have extensive experience in creating reviews of various literary genres and also have a prominent profile in promoting reading among Young.

The writer and organizer of the event, Cristina Alemany, recalled that the initiative began in 2014 with the holding of the first meeting by the “Movida Juvenil” group; At that time, the idea was conceived by this group of young people, who managed to come together in an initial number of 10 participants, experiencing significant growth over the years.

In dialogue with the specialized press, Alemany indicated that the new edition “has two luxury guests from Spain who are the authors ‘Iria and Selene’ who have many books published that are ‘best sellers’, and a ‘Booktoker’ (tiktoker of books) Mexican who is ‘Ale’, who has more than 600,000 followers and who also comes to talk about everything he knows.

He added that the event addresses various topics related to the children’s interests, channeled through reading and ranging from “relationships, friendship, love, vocation and study to issues of violence, abuse, health.” mentality, diversity and inclusion.

«To me it seems fantastic, it seems incredible, because reading entertains them, amuses them, trains them, educates them and also makes them think, expands their imagination, helps them study; In many cases, there are kids who are given a vocation and a profession,” said Alemany.

The organizer added that “anything that involves spreading reading among children is very beneficial, the more we can be, the better it will be.”

«Reading is an absolute good, it is useful for everything and, in addition, we are training new readers, also the readers of the future; The publishing market is very important, so this has social, economic, cultural, educational, and all kinds of implications,” said Alemany.

During the meeting, the content producers were able to speak through different panels on various topics such as the evolution of literary genres, with a predominance of romance, fantasy and science fiction, as well as topics related to diversity and mental health. .

Likewise, they exchanged knowledge and experiences about digital tools and formats, the evolution of social networks, the beginnings in the world of writing and contact with the publishing world, among others.

Under the name “Agusgrimmpitch”, the bookfluencer and writer “Agus” pointed out that although her interest in reading and writing was present in her life from a very young age, it was in adolescence and more specifically in the new coronavirus pandemic when she discovered the power of social networks in the dissemination of this type of content.

«On my social networks, apart from, obviously, talking a lot about my book, I also share my readings and my opinions about the books that I come across; I think the genres I read the most are romance, contemporary books in general and fantasy; I always try to prioritize Argentine authors a little more, because being Argentina I feel that they represent me,” he expressed.

The filmmaker and also author of the title “Joa’s Theory” began creating reviews through applications such as Tik Tok, which she still maintains among her main platforms, apparently easy to use and access, in addition to allowing optimal interaction with her followers.

«I think the most beautiful thing about Tik Tok is the closeness you can have with the people who follow you, it’s like talking to a friend; people who are my same age or younger can find someone who is a match for them; Apart from that anyone can create an account and make content talking about what makes them happy,” she said.

«What captivated me at the beginning is that it is very intuitive when it comes to editing and creating content and with respect to that the short format also helps a lot (…) From Tik Tok you can edit (the videos) from the same platform, which “It makes it much easier for people who want to start making content, it is an excellent gateway,” said the influencer.

For her part, Sol Chiara, author of “Portraits of Perfect Moments,” said that her motivation when starting to create digital content was “to find other readers and connect with other people” in the middle of the pandemic.

“I’m an only child, I don’t have siblings, I didn’t have anyone to have fun with, so talking to people about what I like was my way of escaping confinement,” she said.

For the influencer Sol Di Giorno, the pandemic generated a boom in “Bookfluencers”, which is reflected today with the “increase in the number of young readers, greater publishing opportunities for authors despite their age and surely an increase in sales.
