Last Friday, the Canarias7 assembly hall hosted the presentation of this book by journalist Cristian Gil.
Last Friday, May 3, marked the first anniversary of the historic EuroCup title achieved by Club Baloncesto Gran Canaria, defeating Turk Telekom 71-67 at the Gran Canaria Arena. It was the first international title in the history of the Claretian entity, raised to the sky of Siete Palmas in a venue packed with almost 10,000 souls in the stands.
Coinciding with this anniversary, the club organized the presentation of the book ‘Hot heart, cold head: History of a Great European Champion’, by sports journalist Cristian Gil. In its pages, Gil describes the path to the historic continental title, making a detailed summary of the season and, specifically, the qualifying rounds for the title.
The presentation was the perfect excuse to remember the enormous continental success through the memories and anecdotes of the protagonists. Cristian Gil directed an event in which Sitapha Savané, Jaka Lakovic, Willy Villar and Miquel Salvó were present, representing in the best possible way all the levels of the entity that made the achievement of the title possible.
It was an event that lasted about an hour and flew by due to the pleasantness and relaxation of the talk. A continuous exchange of memories, intrastories and anecdotes that delighted the guests. The players from last year’s team, coaching staff, authorities, sponsors and subscribers who did not want to miss this emotional and fun event.
The book ‘Warm heart, cold head: History of a Granca European champion’ can be purchased now in the official store of the Gran Canaria Basketball Club, located on the first floor of CC Las Ramblas, as well as in the online store. In addition, it will be available in the store that is set up on match days at the Gran Canaria Arena.
