The Navalmoral de la Mata City Council, through the Department of Culture headed by Councilor Cristina Marcos, has recently presented an extensive program of activities for the XXXIV Book Fair that includes literature and culture from May 31 to May 8 of June. Likewise, she highlighted that both the poster of the fair and that of the Encina de Plata Award, “have been selflessly created” by the prestigious local painter Juan Núñez-Romero Cortés, to whom the councilor expressed her gratitude. The fair will have two traveling exhibitions at the Concha Foundation and the Domingo Quijada Municipal Library, dedicated respectively to the author José Saramago and the concept of Easy Reading, a solution that makes it possible for people with reading comprehension difficulties to access information.

In addition, the booksellers’ booths will be open in the Plaza del Jardincillo, offering a wide variety of books and literary novelties. They will be open in the morning and afternoon. During these days, book presentations, dialogues with authors, children’s and theatrical shows, and tributes to literary figures such as Gloria Fuertes will be held. Among the notable authors who will participate in this edition are Alfonso Goizueta, among others.

Within the programming, on June 7 the XVIII Encina de Plata Prize will be awarded with a renowned jury headed by Luis Mateo Díez, Cervantes Prize 2023. The town hall program also includes performances and shows such as that of the company Cazando Gamusinos with ‘ Oh pear, perita, perita’; Also Gabino Sánchez Llamazares with the presentation of his book ‘Will you forget my name?’ The Book Fair will coincide with Calle Teatronal with a fun special edition with music, Fernandula y Lulo and Los Trotacuentos.

The public will also be able to attend the Dialogues with Pilar Galán, which on this occasion will feature Cristina Morató, journalist, writer and director of Spanish television programs. The program will end on June 8 with the presentation of the book ‘The Force of the Dead’ by Gonzalo Pérez Sarró.
