The Book and Culture Festival opened the call for the 300 literary novelties that will be presented between September 6 and 15, during the event that will take place in the northern part of the city.

The call to the creators of this type of content It is open until July 5 and authors whose literary texts are published between September 2023 and September 2024 can participate.

The launches are part of the central programming of the 18th edition of this Medellín Book and Culture Festival, which will take place in the northern area of ​​the city, but will have its epicenter in the Joaquín Antonio Uribe Botanical Garden.

Juan David Vélez, deputy director of the Medellín Book Events, explained that: “We are going to receive stories, poetry, graphic novels, comics, illustrations. We are interested in it being a space that takes over the entire city, the entire country and that we can all celebrate together in those days of September.”

The interested They may present a maximum of 10 titles each, and in the form they must provide basic data such as “the title, author, genre, brief review, year of publication, name of the launch moderator and some other details. Likewise, the information of the publisher and the writer must be referenced.”

The Mayor’s Office of Medellín clarified that within the selection process literary themes will be considered that are of interest to readers, as well as editors, booksellers and their criteria such as narrative. There will also be evaluations in the “philosophical, anthropological, political, literary or social science essay; journalism and chronicles; design, graphic novels and illustrated books; themes of art, music, cinema, theater, children’s books and poetry.

At the launches, attendees can listen to the authors, in addition to learning the motivations for their publications, the anecdotes within their creations and listening to the various stories that occur in the midst of the generation of literary content.

From the organization of the Medellín Book Events they indicated that “It is very important that Writers send a call letter signed by the person in charge of the publishing house. Without this, the proposal will not be valid.”
