LOS ANGELES, October 9, 2024 /PRNewswire-HISPANIC PR WIRE/ — Little ones will love to sing, dance and count along with Let’s counta new sound book in Spanish based on the traditional Latin American children’s song, “Un Elefante Se Balanceaba.” Just in time for Hispanic Heritage Month, the book is a special collaboration between the Los Angeles-based publisher Cali’s and the Mexican film producer, activist and now author, Olga Segura.

With six pages of hand-drawn illustrations, Spanish letters, and fun English prompts, it’s an immersive experience that young children (and their parents!) will love. Little ones can press buttons to hear each verse in Spanish. “I was inspired by my 3-year-old son,” Segura says. “I live here in the United States and wanted to create something bilingual for us to enjoy together.”

Like all Cali Books sound books, Let’s count It is packed with educational benefits. Children will learn to count to five in Spanish, develop their vocabularies, and sharpen their fine motor skills as they press buttons and turn pages to hear the next verse. Nursery rhymes are especially useful for young learners, with rhymes and repetitions helping to reinforce new words and concepts.

But Let’s count is much more than a counting book: it also shares a very important message. Each elephant invites another to join in the fun, showing the value of teamwork, community and collective joy. “It tells the little ones that no one should dance alone,” Segura says. – Because dancing together is much more fun!

The book is based on the mission of sure of center the voices and stories of Latinos. Her commitment to the community includes co-founding The Latinx House, creating the ADELANTE Directors Fellowship, and co-founding Poderistas to empower the next generation of Latinas. He has recently produced, written and directed his first animated short film, ELEPHANT Let none be left swinging alone.
