The negotiation of the agreement for the employees of Inditex or H&M is resumed

The unions and the Spanish Retail Textile Association (ARTE) will resume this Thursday, more than two months after the last meeting, the negotiation of the trade agreement for large textile brands such as Inditex, H&M and Mango after the first meetings were unable to reach an agreement.

He new agreement seeks to homogenize the conditions of workers in large clothing brand stores throughout Spain, until now governed by provincial agreements, many of which have expired and are pending negotiation.

The state agreement would reach, at a minimum, 66 large companies in the sector and 110,000 workersas it would be aimed at companies that have a total physical sales area of ​​more than 3,500 square meters nationwide, physical stores in three or more autonomous communities, or more than 400 employees.

At the last meeting, held on February 19, The employers described CCOO’s salary proposal as “very ambitious”who leads the negotiation table with half of the members. The union proposes minimum salaries of between 20,000 and 26,500 euros gross per year depending on seniority and ARTE promised, instead, to specify an alternative.

The union’s objective is that the negotiation takes place with an “upward salary standardization, with guarantees of the best conditions”. According to CCOO, the employers can agree on the approach, but without reaching the level they claim.

ARTE would also have committed to specifying its approach on the salary increases in accordance with the CPI and the criteria of the Agreement for Employment and Collective Bargaining (AENC). The negotiation table is made up of eight members from CCOO, five from UGT and one from CIG, ELA and Fetico, which entered after an agreement due to the threat of a lawsuit.
