An increase in digital and satellite connectivity shows the country. The figures, provided by the Undersecretary of Telecommunications, corresponding to the statistical series as of December 2023, show that 5G connections reach 3.8 million, showing a growth of 88.5% compared to December 2022.

This reflects the rapid adoption of new technologies by Chilean users. Furthermore, statistics show that in Chile there are already 26.7 million mobile phones.

The numbers provided by Subtel also show sustained growth in residential satellite connections, which have grown 88.4% in the last 12 months and 163% so far in the Government. In the case of fixed Internet connections, these grew 1.4%, reaching 4.5 million connections.

The Undersecretary of Telecommunications, Claudio Araya, pointed out that, “the President ordered us to reach out with an offer of telecommunications services to the entire national territory where people live, that is, that no one is left out because they do not have a way to connect to the digital society. . And we have been fulfilling that task. Proof of this is the deployment of infrastructure projects, such as the 5G network throughout the national territory and the operation of different connection points of the National Fiber Optic project.”

He also added, “with the approval of the Internet as a Public Service project, which enables demand subsidy and where companies must provide service throughout the concession area, we hope that the number of users connected to fixed networks will increase, since Our challenge as a State is that the digital gaps get closer and closer to their minimum expression,” he concluded.
