Toyota has just launched the version in our market plug-in hybrid of the current generation of the RAV4, the SUV that has been sold in the country since 2019.

In this first stage, the Toyota RAV4 PHEV (acronym in English that refers to plug-in hybrid vehicles) can only be rented as part of the “Kinto” fleet, the Japanese brand’s fractional rental system.

Later it will be offered at four other stations, which will also install electric chargers, and then continue with the rest of the official Toyota dealerships in the country.

At Kinto stations where the RAV4 PHEV is offered, the chargers have a power of 6.6 kWhwhich performs a full charge in about two hours and half. This is the same type of charger that is found in gas stations, shopping malls, restaurants and other establishments. The loading sheet is type 2.

According to the May price list, the hourly rental of a RAV4 will be $26,012while per day, $104,048.

XL autonomy and advanced technology

Imported from Japan, the Toyota RAV4 PHEV has three engines: a 2.5-liter gasoline engine with 182 HP and two electric vehicles; one located on the front axle with 180 HP and 270 Nm, and another at the rear with 53 HP and 121 Nm. The combined power is 302 horsepower The transmission, for its part, is an automatic CVT type (continuous ratio).

The RAV4 PHEV comes from Japan and has three engines: one thermal and two electric motors powered by a lithium battery with 18.1 kWh capacity.

Toyota states that the RAV4 PHEV needs 6.5 seconds to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h. Likewise, the autonomy in electric mode is 75 kilometerswhile in combined mode exceeds 1,000 km with a single fuel tank.

To charge it, it comes equipped with a conventional 2.2 kW (10A 220V) portable charger that allows a full charge in a conventional plug in eight hours. For reference, it is an electrical consumption similar to that of a hair dryer.

Among the outstanding equipment we can mention the 10.5-inch HD multimedia screen, with connection to smartphones through Android Auto or Apple CarPlay, dual-zone digital climate control with remote start (from the key).

Kinto stations have 6.6 kWh chargers that allow a 100% charge in two and a half hours.

In terms of safety, the RAV4 PHEV has the Toyota Safety Sensecomposed of different driving assistance systems such as adaptive cruise control with traffic sign recognition and cornering speed reduction; lane keep assist and sway warning; and blind angle sensor, among others.
