According to the Fenalco and Andi license plate report, From January to April 2024, 55,815 new vehicles have been registered, presenting a drop of 7.9% compared to the same period in 2023.

“The sector has not yet recovered and in April completed a consecutive year with unfavorable results. The drop in the cargo vehicle market (-7.5%), in which the country’s economy moves, is of great concern. A reactivation plan is urgently needed, a situation like this cannot continue to go unnoticed,” said Jaime Alberto Cabal, president of Fenalco.

In the fourth month of the year, the five brands with the highest number of registrations were Toyota, Renault, Chevrolet, Kia and Mazda with market shares of 16.1%, 11.9%, 11.0%, 11.0% and 8.2% respectively.

By line, in April the first five places in sales were occupied by Toyota Corolla Cross, with 735 units sold in the country; Mazda Cx-30 with 596; Chevrolet Joy with 566; Renault Duster with 516 and Toyota Hilux with 490.

These five lines represented 19% of the total enrolled in the month.

If you look at the accumulated data, from January to April, the five brands with the highest number of registrations were also Toyota, Renault, Chevrolet, Kia and Mazdawith market shares of 16.1%, 12.4%, 11.5%, 10.3% and 8.8% respectively.

The most sold cars in that period were Toyota Corrolla Cross with 2,638 registered units; Mazda Cx-30 with 2,408; Renault Duster with 2,100; Kia Picanto with 2,071; and Toyota Hilux with 1,792.

For their part, the cities in which the most cars were sold in April were Ibagué with an increase of 152% in enrollment compared to the same month of 2023; Bucaramanga with 108%; Tunja with 77%; Sincelejo with 60% and Mosquera with 49%.

In Medellín, 2,701 vehicles were sold in April, with an increase of 2.5% compared to the same month in 2023. But if you look at the cumulative figure for the year, Sales fell 15.1%, with 9,490 compared to 11,178 in 2023.
