The Mobile Municipal Criminal Court 102 with Guarantee Control Functions this Thursday imposed a security measure in the prison center against Jorge Ignacio Maldonado Rincóncaptured in mid-April by court order for the crimes of conspiracy and aggravated extortion.

According to the material presented in preliminary hearings by the 12th Specialized Prosecutor’s Office, Maldonado Rincón would be an alleged member of the gang. ‘The Costeños’ and it would be directly related to two cases in which he allegedly shot and set fire to businesses in the southeast of Barranquilla to demand extortion payment.

According to the Prosecutor’s Office, in October 2023, several members of the gang were captured who would be related to the delivery of pamphlets, shooting and burning businesses in neighborhoods such as San Roque, Centro, Montes, Chiquinquirá and who would be under the control of aliases ‘Slap’. However, Jorge Ignacio remained to be captured and this was done in April of this year in the Los Trupillos neighborhood of Barranquilla.

The man did not accept the charges.
