Madrid, May 21 (EFECOM).- Bitcoin, the most used and well-known cryptocurrency on the market, touched $72,000 this morning, attempting its assault on the all-time highs reached on March 14, at $73,797.98. Dollars.

According to Bloomberg data collected by EFE, at 2 a.m. this Tuesday, bitcoin has reached $71,929.56.

At 7:45 a.m., its price deflated and was trading at $71,126.56, with an increase of 2.31%.

Last March, bitcoin recorded its latest high driven by the decision of the SEC, the US supervisor, to authorize the creation of exchange-traded funds (ETFs) linked to the spot price of this crypto asset.

Throughout the month of April and May, its price was reduced affected by the ‘halving’, an event that occurs every four years and involves reducing the issuance of new coins.

For its part, Ethereum, the second most traded cryptocurrency, has risen almost 18% between yesterday and today, and this morning it reached $3,719.93, driven by the possibility that the SEC will decide on a possible authorization for the creation of ETFs, whose deadline expires this Wednesday, according to market information.

However, its price is still far from the historical highs it reached in November 2021 ($4,866). EFE
