Canon surprises with the PowerShot GOLF, a rangefinder for golfers (which is also a camera)

From time to time Canon goes out of its way with a product that no one expected but for which, apparently, there is a market. Such is the case of the new PowerShot GOLF, a camera whose main function is to serve as a rangefinder for golf players. That is, it basically serves to measure the distance between the golfers and the holes.

To do this, it has a high-precision laser and a 410 mm objective. Simply point the PowerShot GOLF towards the flag of a hole and the camera will automatically detect it and calculate the distance. It can also detect irregularities in the terrain such as hills or sand bunkers, all with a range of up to 960 meters.

With this information, golfers can decide which club to use or how much power they need in the swing. swing. It should be remembered that this type of device is not allowed in most competitions, so the camera allows you to deactivate the measurement to use it only as a viewfinder.

But the PowerShot GOLF is also a camera. It is the part that interests us the most, although it is actually very simple: it allows you to record video in Full HD and take photos of up to 11 megapixels to keep a record of the circuit and the hits.

It is also waterproof and charges via USB-C. The Canon PowerShot GOLF is now available for 370 euros.
