CriteriaCaixathe industrial arm of the la Caixa Banking Foundation, has reached a stake of the 9.4% in ACS for an amount of 983 million euros, as reported by the company this Friday to the National Securities Market Commission (CNMV).

ACS has also informed the markets supervisor that it has agreed to the early cancellation of the two forward contracts on own sharesliquidable exclusively in cash due to differences, which currently affect a total of 25,431,299 treasury shares, to be purchased by CriteriaCaixa, which represents a 9.361% stake in the group chaired by Florentino Pérez.

After the operation, CriteriaCaixa will become the second largest shareholder of ACS and will propose to its board of directors the appointment of Isidro Fainé as proprietary director.

This movement is part of the investment policy of CriteriaCaixa – a company chaired by Isidro Fainé and whose CEO is Ángel Simón -, which selects leading companies in highly attractive sectors, with the capacity for growth and value generation.

After knowing this information, ACS shares registered a decrease of 0.30% at 9:31 a.m., to 39.62 euros.

This takeover of 9.4% of ACS by Criteria follows the intention of the La Caixa holding company to increase its stake in Telephone and to obtain 17% of Colonialwhile preparing to strengthen its position in Naturgy within the framework of the takeover bid that the Emirati group Taqa plans to launch.
