The founder of Nvidia predicts a “new industrial revolution” thanks to generative AI

The founder and CEO of the American technology company Nvidia, Jensen Huang, assured this Sunday that humanity is entering a “new industrial revolution” thanks to the arrival of generative artificial intelligence (AI), which is called to “reshape” the computer industry.

“For the first time, the $3 trillion IT industry is on the verge of creating something that will (lead to) a 100 billion dollar industry (92.11 billion euros)”, said Huang during a speech at the National Taiwan University.

Dressed in his characteristic black leather jacket, Huang starred in an almost two-hour presentation in which he outlined the company’s main developments: from Earth-2, a “digital clone” of Earth that allows highly accurate climate predictions, until the NVIDIA ACE “digital humans”passing through the construction of “artificial intelligence factories” with NVIDIA Blackwell architecture.

In Huang’s words, applications based on generative AI will require less energy to run and they will be much fasterwhich will have a “very profound” impact on the technology industry.

“In the last 60 years, we have seen two or three changes that changed everything in the world of technology. That is happening right now,” said the businessman, emphasizing that this will not be a computer manufacturing industry, but that those same computers will be in charge of the manufacturing processes, “something that has never happened before.”

With a value of almost 2.7 trillion dollars (2.48 trillion euros), Nvidia is the third largest company in the United States by capitalization market, only behind Microsoft and Appleafter its shares have accumulated a rise of more than 120% so far this year due to the rise of artificial intelligence applications and devices, according to the Efe agency.

Nvidia obtained a net profit of 14,881 million dollars (13,706 million euros) during the first fiscal quarter of 2025, seven times more than in the same period of the previous year, while its turnover increased during this time by 262%, to 26,044 million dollars (23,989 million euros).

Born in the southern city of Tainan in 1961, Huang arrived in his native island on May 26 on the occasion of the Taipei Computexone of the most important events in the technology sector, which will officially begin this Tuesday with the presence of more than 1,500 exhibitors from 36 countries or regions, including Google, Intel, Micron, Qualcomm and Advanced Micro Devices (AMD).

The businessman took advantage of his time in Taiwan to have dinner with several industry heavyweights, including Morris Chang, founder of Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (TSMC), company that manufactures the most advanced chips that exist, and ANDoung Liu, president of Hon Hai (Foxconn)the world’s largest electronics contract assembler.

“Taiwan is the home of our valued partners. This is where everything Nvidia does begins, everything our partners and we bring to the world. We have created the world’s AI infrastructure,” Huang said at the beginning of his speech.
