A company that makes ice cream for several popular brands, including Hershey’s, Jeni’s and Friendly’s, issued a recall order for some of its products that may be contaminated with Listeria.
In a notice posted on the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) website, Totally Cool Inc. said it had halted production and distribution of the affected products after a federal agency review revealed the presence of Listeria.
Listeria is a bacteria that, when ingested, can cause mild gastroenteritis and fever, but in more vulnerable populations it can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections.
