Florinda Meza, actress and widow of Roberto Gómez Bolaños, issued a statement to announce that she will continue defending the television legacy left by the popular ‘Chespirito‘ after his death in 2014.

“I want to clarify that, until today, I HAVE NOT SUED ANYONEit is not my wish and I hope I do not find myself in the need to do it, for any reason,” he highlighted.
The actress emphasized that any vision different from the legacy of ‘Chespirito‘, would not be worthy of his biography, but simply “another story invented by someone else.”

In his statement, Florinda Meza recalled an event that took place in 2020, during the pandemic, when the contract with Televisa for the literary rights of Chespirito. She emphasized her desire for her husband’s legacy to continue to be seen by the public, but she said she was not invited to negotiations to resume broadcasting the programs.
“He (Roberto Gomez Bolaños“) appointed me as his representative to protect his characters from misuse… And what worse use can be made of the legacy of a genius than to bury it, freeze it for almost four years?!”, the document reads.
“He would not have allowed the series to go off the air during the pandemic. Taking that joy away from the fans just when they needed it most was terrible. Now they are anxiously waiting for the number one comedy television program to return,” he added.
In that sense, Florinda She was receptive to the dialogue with the actor’s children, pointing out the urgency of resolving the situation: “If they want, we can solve this immediately; it is urgent that laughter returns to homes.”
