As we previously published here, two American citizens, Peter Rosza and Conor Woulfe, sued Universal Pictures, producer and distributor of the film, in 2022. Yesterdayin which Ana de Armas would appear according to the trailer that was released for the film.

The reason for the legal dispute centered on the fact that both rented the film through Amazon Prime Video, with the idea of enjoying the presence of the young woman born in 1988, but, to their surprise, they did not see her at any point in the feature film. one hour and fifty-seven minutes long, for which they decided to file the lawsuit for five million dollars under the accusation of false advertising, unjust enrichment and violation of competition, according to reports from various media at the time.

Both alleged that they had been defrauded of $3.99 each (the cost of renting the film) and initially a federal judge agreed with them, indicating that the trailers could involve false advertising. But, after that ruling, Variety reports, several problems arose for these men, who had to pay more than $126,000 in legal fees to Universal.

On April 18, the parties in dispute finally accepted an agreement in which neither of them will get anything, reports that same medium. The terms of the agreement have not been publicly disclosed, but, as has been known, none of those involved are happy with the final decision, although at least now the plaintiffs, in exchange for withdrawing their lawsuit due to prejudice, will not have to pay the fees of Universal lawyers.

Variety indicates that Universal believes it was forced to lose hundreds of thousands of dollars over two years defending an evidently frivolous lawsuit. Meanwhile, lawyers in the lawsuit, who initially thought the lawsuit would be worth millions of dollars, came to believe that California courts are rigged in favor of Hollywood studios.

At the time, we talked here about Yesterday and we review the following: «imagine that you are the only person on the face of the Earth who remembers the songs of The Beatles (at the rate we are going, this scenario seems possible within a few generations) what would you do? If you have low morals, the answer is very simple: appropriate the music of the Liverpool quartet and become a star.

That was the premise of the work by Oscar-winning director Danny Boyle, which starred British actor Himesh Patel and included Ana de Armas in its cast. However, some time later, the scenes where the Antillean appeared were removed from the footage. The one born in the largest of the Antilles would be part of a love triangle with the main character, Jack Malik (Patel), and Ellie (Lily James). According to El Mundo, Richard Curtis, the screenwriter, commented that, although Ana was excellent, the audience preferred the relationship between Jack and Ellie. Roxanne (played by de Armas) came to complicate the situation. “Eliminating her was traumatic,” Curtis stated.
