Christian Nodal and Ángela Aguilar: Chronology of their relationship

Christian Nodal and Ángela Aguilar confirmed their relationship in two separate statements.

“It is not a new relationship, it is the continuation of a story that life made us pause so we could grow and miss. Because when we let ourselves go, when we returned we were more ours,” Aguilar told HELLO! in an article on Monday (June 10). The publication included the first photos of the couple, confirming their romance.

The surprising news comes two and a half weeks after regional Mexican music star and Argentine trap singer Cazzu (real name: Julieta Cazzucheli) announced their breakup. The ex-couple made their relationship public in November 2022 during the Latin Grammys and had a daughter the following year.

“First of all, Julieta is a person that I love and who has my respect for life. We are public figures, we are artists, but we are not dedicated to life,” Nodal said in a video published early Tuesday morning (June 11) on his Instagram account. “Love doesn’t always work. Our cycle, together, ended in the best possible way. It was a love that gave us the most precious gift that could have come to us in life, the most beautiful thing we could have done together, which is Inti, my daughter, who I will always love, I will always care for. And in that relationship there will never be a third party, there has never been infidelity.”

Despite being the newest couple in Latin music, Nodal and Aguilar first established a relationship more than five years ago. See the full timeline below:

  • November 2020: Their first collaboration

In the midst of the global pandemic, Nodal and Aguilar released their first collaborative effort, “Tell Me How You Want.” The fresh and flirtatious ranchera, written by Nodal and Edgar Barrera, finds Nodal madly in love with Aguilar who, in turn, is not impressed with her kind gestures. After all, she is not the kind of girl who falls in love with a boy easily, she sings. Although they both appear together in the fun music video, they each filmed her part separately using a green screen background.

“I couldn’t stop laughing while I was recording my part,” Aguilar then told Billboard. “When you record a duet well, you have that human interaction and a lot of your facial expressions are a reaction to what the other person is doing. But here I was singing in front of a green screen and a guy from our production team who was pretending to be Nodal.”

“Tell me how you want” reached No. 1 on the Regional Mexican Airplay chart in January 2021, making Aguilar, who was 17 at the time, the youngest female singer to reach the top of the chart. It also scored her first No. No. 1 on any Latin radio airplay chart, and gave Nodal her tenth entry on Latin Airplay.

After the couple’s official statements, Nodal and Aguilar kissed publicly for the first time during the Sonoran star’s concert at the National Auditorium in Mexico City. “I feel the need to let you know that I AM WELL, going through the best way possible,” he wrote on his Instagram stories. “I choose to get away from networks a little to detoxify and focus on my baby, which is my priority, and on my work while everything calms down out there. Life is not totally beautiful or totally horrible, nor are people completely 100% good or bad, there are always grays and nuances but the important thing is to breathe and resist with love the necessary processes and learn. Thank you for the concern of so many. Now let’s turn the page, live and let live.”
