The Platense Medical Association declared itself on “alert” regarding the treatment of the “Fiscal Package” project in Congress. In particular, they follow what refers to the Monotributo scales, a tax scheme that “suffocates the daily worker who practices medicine”, the entity insists in line with what has been claimed in recent years.

In this sense, it has now been specified that 75 percent of the services carried out in the La Plata district by medical professionals – whether consultations in medical wards, outpatient consultations, emergency and scheduled surgeries, as well as care of patients admitted to general floors as well as in critical units, are carried out under the autonomous and independent format.

Regarding the recomposition and updating of the Monotax scales for people who provide services under these conditions, included in Title VI “Simplified Regime for Small Taxpayers”, the authorities of the Platense Medical Association (AMP) maintained that they are on alert , expectant and eager for this to be approved and regulated as quickly as possible and without further delay.

Martín Cesarini, president of the entity that represents the professionals of La Plata, remarked: “Tax asphyxiation affects doctors every day and that is why we believe that this treatment in Congress is important for legislators to reflect and support an improvement.” in the current fiscal situation that we are going through, and that has been affecting us for years.”

It was mentioned that, since its creation and promulgation, the Monotax law suffered a gap in relation to its scales, categories and computed amounts, in relation to the comparison of bases and inflationary correlates.

Regarding the self-employed, which includes the work of health professionals, the project considerably raises the billing ceilings and consequently the fees.

Likewise, it incorporates as a novelty that the annual limit to remain within the regime will be $68,000,000 and that it will include both commercial and service activities (medical fees).

Last October, the AMP claimed that if the monotributista exceeded a billing limit close to 700,000 pesos per month, they would fall into the Registered Responsible Category (now, around one million), which reduces the amount by more than a third. his income, it was calculated. Then, the national congress had eliminated the fourth category of the Income Tax and the floor to start paying Profits was raised (to 1,770,000 pesos in those days). However, this exemption does not include monotributist doctors.

In this context, Cesarini warned that “if this is not changed in a favorable direction, the future of our professionals, the system and, above all, the population, will be irreversibly affected, with fewer students choosing to practice medicine, with a weaker system and, as a consequence, a sicker population.”

For his part, Ezequiel Fidalgo, vice president of the AMP, said that “if this situation continues over time, it will result in a contracted health system, where the lack of professionals in critical areas such as guards will continue to deepen.”

Given this panorama, the authorities of the entity that represents the doctors of the city of La Plata, maintained that “urgent measures must be taken so that the health system is improved and optimized; so that workers can receive their pay according to their work, without having to limit their activity for tax reasons.”

It was insisted in this sense that “this is the reason why if the scales are not updated, doctors will be pushed by tax asphyxiation to reduce the number of benefits provided” it was warned.

This may lead to the closure of the guards due to lack of doctors and a reduction in the shift schedule, the entity indicated.

If it is not modified in a favorable way, the future of our professionals, the system and, above all, the population, will be irreversibly affected, with fewer students choosing to practice medicine.” Martín Cesarini – President of the Platense Medical Association
