La Jornada – Filmmaker Moisés Ortiz Urquidi dies at 58

Mexico City. The actor and filmmaker Moisés Ortiz Urquidi, who worked in Dates in paradise, The Aparicio and The Lord of the heavensdied this Friday at the age of 58, the National Association of Actors reported on its social networks.

In its message of condolences, ANDA published that it “deeply regrets the death of our colleague and director Moisés Ortíz Urquidi, a member of our union.”

The School of Performing and Audiovisual Arts, on its X account, formerly Twitter, wrote: “It is with deep regret that we express our condolences for the death of Moisés Ortiz Urquidi. At CasAzul we will always remember him with great affection during his time as a teacher in the Acting Career. Rest in peace”.

The Film Commission of Mexico City also expressed its regret on its social networks: “CFILMA regrets the sensitive death of the Mexican television director, Moisés Ortiz Urquidi, who left his mark on series such as The Aparicio, Appointment in Paradise, wounded soul and The Lord of the heavens. We accompany his family and friends in their pain.”

Ortiz Urquidi studied Cinematography at the Cinematographic Training Center where he also served as a professor of the subject of Cinematographic Editing Theory. He directed several series for the Argos TV, HBO and Cadena Tres networks, among others, including his work in the second and third seasons of Cappadocia (2010-2012) and The AparYocio (2010).
