A councilor from the Olivar commune, in the O’Higgins region, filed a complaint against the municipal authorities before the Comptroller’s Office to clarify the use of millionaire public resources in the commemoration of the past Father’s Day, a family event where vedettes were hired.

Promoted on municipal social networks, the show approved by the mayor of Olivar and the Municipal Council was promoted during the days prior to the commemoration as an “evening full of humor, laughter and sensuality, where we will share special moments in honor of all parents of our community.”

Complaint to the Comptroller’s Office

In any case, and considering the content of the show, the municipality indicated that although “the show is for all audiences, we suggest the criteria of each father and mother for the presence of children in it.”

Precisely this point was what Councilor Sergio Aravena denounced in the program “With you in the morning”, who clarified that the amounts invested in the event, about six million pesos, could well have been used for other “emergencies” more related to “ availability of remedies” or “connectivity of isolated sectors, especially in times of intense rains.”

“The criticism starts from the context. The needs of the neighbors have a lot to do with emergencies, with the availability of remedies, with the connectivity of isolated sectors, especially in times of intense rains. “That is what today the municipality does not consider or has it on a secondary level,” explained Aravena, who filed the complaint with the Comptroller’s Office along with other councilors in order to “clarify the use of municipal funds.”

“It seems to me that the priorities are not clear, in addition to the fact that approach buses were put in place. “It is an eighties, retrograde event that objectifies women,” he asserted.
