October 9, 2024 – 00:40
The 16th Book Fair begins today, in which more than 40 publishers and bookstores from the province and the country will participate. This year, it will be held under the motto “I defend what is mine. “Books as resistance.” The event will continue until next Sunday at the Catamarca Fairgrounds.
Not only will there be activities related to books and reading them, but the proposals extend to other spaces and workshops that will be available throughout the five days of the exhibition. Some of these will be new because it is the first time they have been held, such as the First Norte Natural Poetry Festival.
Children’s space
This year, as a novelty, the Children’s Space will also have stands for the exhibition and sale of books and educational games specially designed for children. The publishers present will propose activity books, sensory books, board games, puzzles, educational cards, artistic articles, musical instruments, for children and young people, from 6 months to 15 years. Also with products for adults who enjoy playing and who want to share spaces of imagination with their children, nephews, brothers, etc.
From Pumpeli they will come with “a wide variety of board games for all ages. They will be able to find games of speed, strategy, ingenuity, general culture, party games and more,” they anticipated. Pumpeli will bring news from national publishers such as Maldón, Juegos Literarios Tinkuy, Buró, among others, and will arrive with its most requested games such as Dables, Pido la Palabra, Poesía a la Carta, El Ilustrado and Bretón.
poetry festival
Within the framework of this fair, Catamarca will host the 1st North Natural Poetry Festival, which will bring together poets from the provinces that make up the Northwest region and special guests from October 10 to 12. Poetic-musical shows, readings, talks and internal work days will be held at the Higher Institute of Art and Communication and a day with the community of Las Juntas.
Renowned poets from the region were invited and will be participating in the different stages of the meeting: Inés Aráoz from Tucumán, Livia Hidalgo, Silvia Barei and Ernestina Elorriaga from Córdoba, Kiko Salgado from Santiago del Estero, Adriana Petrigliano and Silvina Chacón from La Rioja, Sabrina Barrego representing Mendoza, Eduardo Robino, Fernanda Agüero and Carlos Müller from Salta, Denise León from Tucumán and Damián Lamanna Guiñazú from CABA.
Variety of workshops
Starting tomorrow, a variety of workshops will be held with proposals that include poetry, literary coffee, comics, plastic-literary proposals, collage, among others.
Activities are free with registration on a first-come, first-served basis as space capacity is limited. All proposals will take place in the Talleres Space, located in the Peregrina Zárate room.
