The opening coincided with the date on which the National Day of Natural and Cultural Heritage is celebrated and will offer a wide range of literary exhibitions and dissertations until tomorrow.

The event, which was chaired by the communal chief, Jorge Soloaga, was attended by a special guest, former teacher Adelaida del Carmen Vidal, who lived in the town for many years, was part of an appreciated Ypefian family and today is 89 years.

An emotional tribute was paid to him when a modern dance hall was inaugurated under his name and in that same building, thus recognizing that in 1978 he had begun to teach classical and contemporary gymnastics classes, as well as jazz and tango to a group of girls. and adolescents,

To do this, with the collaboration of other neighbors, he had to refurbish an abandoned pavilion, in poor condition and with a dirt floor that was provided by the then Social, Cultural, and Air Club of the town, thus being able to transmit the training that had received in Buenos Aires, including classes she received from a dancer from the Teatro Colón.

And this afternoon, accompanied by family members, she shared with great emotion the discovery of an access plaque to the room that bears her name.

With great lucidity, he recalled some anecdotes from times of great difficulties in carrying out social enterprises and initiatives, also thanking the deference that the current community management had towards him, having also received a framed diploma and a bouquet of roses.

INSTITUTIONAL GESTURES

When speaking in the adjacent auditorium room, Jorge Soloaga, initially recognized the leading effort of “Lala” as they affectionately call Adelaida Vidal, especially because she undertook a task with the help of other families, when YPF did not give space to neighborhood initiatives since, as a company, it acted as the boss, mayor and president of a town.

That is why, he maintained, this communal management could not fail to recognize his meritorious work for the community, also highlighting that institutional gestures towards people who deserve it must be carried out during his lifetime.

Later he had words of gratitude for all the community staff who worked so that Cañadón Seco could have its first book fair, a gesture that he extended to writers and publishers who exhibit in the halls, all of which sets a firm precedent for the future editions.

In that same context, the vital importance of books of different literary genres was highlighted to strengthen culture in a society and to be able to understand the past and present, in order to have a look at the future.

In addition, he pointed out, the Cañadón book fair is also the result of a transcendent effort based on the investment that the commune made to remodel old YPF facilities to transform them into a Cultural Supply.
