Just a few hours ago, Netflix released the remaining episodes of season 3 of ‘The Witcher’, which are also the last with henry cavill Giving life to Geralt de Rivia. We have known for a long time that Liam Hemsworth will be his replacement, but the Australian actor will still have to wait, as season 4 of the series has been postponed indefinitely.

The initial plan was for the recordings to start this coming month of September -and to last until May of next year-, but from Redanian Intelligence they report that this has changed. Everything indicates that it may be due to the actors’ strikebecause everything seemed to go ahead when it was only the writers who were on strike.
Now the shooting of the new episodes is not scheduled to start until 2024, without having yet set an exact date. Is it that on Netflix they already assume that the strike is going to be very long or perhaps that they are rethinking the future of the series? Let’s remember that season 3 has suffered a clear drop in audiences, and that is never a good sign, especially for a production as expensive as ‘The Witcher’.
To this we must add that there are already up to 6 precedents for series that Netflix had renewed and then ended up canceling. None of them was as popular a title as ‘The Witcher’ -although there is a case that it still hurts me to remember and that was also partly due to an unexpected break-, but there is no other comparable example in which the great protagonist of the show leaves the series prematurely, with her giving clear signs of wear in terms of follow-up by the public.
For my part, I already told you at the time that Netflix should have canceled ‘The Witcher’ after Cavill left, but the platform’s response to all the mess was to imply that they didn’t need it by renewing it for a fifth season before even the premiere of the third. They are already regretting it…
What is clear is that, if we go ahead, season 4 would not be released until 2025.
