This Wednesday, October 30, the VI Plenary Session of the Federal Council of Foreign Relations and International Trade was inaugurated in San Juan, an event that brings together prominent representatives of the diplomatic and commercial field, both national and international. The opening of the meeting was attended by the governor of San Juan, Marcelo Orrego, accompanied by the Secretary of Foreign Affairs of the Nation, Eduardo Bustamante, along with provincial and national officials.
In the Cruce de Los Andes Hall, the day formally began with a group photograph, which preceded the first work sessions. In this context, Governor Orrego highlighted the country’s strategic potential on the international stage: “Argentina has a great opportunity in the global context, and it is key that we work to maintain economic stability, legal security and strengthen our bilateral relations to enhance our capabilities,” he stated. He also highlighted the role of San Juan in sectors such as mining and renewable energies, fundamental for the energy transition, and valued the economic diversity of the province, with production that includes agribusiness and tourism.
For her part, the Minister of Government, Laura Palma, valued the role of the province as host of this important meeting: “We are very happy that San Juan is the venue for this sixth plenary session of the Council. This space for dialogue is a key opportunity to raise the particular situations of each province and also address the common challenges that affect the entire country,” he noted.
The Secretary of Foreign Affairs of the Nation, Eduardo Bustamante, highlighted the commitment of the Federal Council as a space for coordination in foreign policy, oriented to strategic issues such as regional integration and export promotion. In addition, he highlighted the priority of advancing the process of accession to the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) and announced that each province will designate representatives to coordinate this process.
The agenda of activities will continue on Thursday with the second block of the plenary session, in which issues of integration and international trade will be deepened, projecting Argentina as a reliable partner in the global context.
