-Governor Mauricio Vila Dosal inaugurated the 2023 Yucatán World Tennis Cup.
Mérida, Yucatán, November 20, 2023.- Once again, the state becomes a meeting point for youth tennis talent from around the world, with the holding of the 2023 Yucatán Tennis World Cup, which was inaugurated by the Governor Mauricio Vila Dosal and this year brings together 210 players from more than 40 countries, positioning the state as a promoter of the sport.
Accompanied by the director of the Cup, Jorge Enrique Haro Giffenig, and the president of the Yucatán Country Club, Arturo Millet Molina, the Governor led the start of this competition, which is one of the most important in the country, from the “Lorenzo Molina” field. When addressing his message, the Governor highlighted that this Cup has become the third top-level tennis event that has been held in the state this year, since this type of meeting puts Yucatán in the world’s sights.

For this reason, the Governor highlighted that many international companies have decided to invest in the entity that has historically reduced poverty and extreme poverty, so in the remaining 10 months of Government, his administration will be promoting more projects such as modernization of the Progreso Altura Port, the two Combined Cycle Power Plants and the expansion of the gas pipeline.
“There is a lot to be done, but we must give continuity to the governments that are giving results,” said Vila Dosal, after telling them that he will continue to support sports and make the changes that are needed to continue transforming this state for the better.
It should be noted that the Yucatan World Cup has a Grade “A” account this year, which places this event among the most important tournaments of the International Tennis Federation, only behind the youth Grand Slam. In turn, Enrique Haro Giffenig, General Director of the Yucatán 2023 World Cup, recognized the great support that Vila Dosal has always provided to this competition, resulting in it being at the level of important tournaments today, such as the one in Osaka, Japan and the United States Orange Bowl.
He pointed out that it is a pride to see how this tournament is fulfilling its goal of helping Mexicans become stars of this sport, since Rodrigo Pacheco is today number one in the world in the youth ranking, being the first Mexican in history in achieve this achievement.
Finally, Arturo Millet Molina, president of the Yucatán Country Club, celebrated that the Yucatecan capital will once again receive the best juniors in the world in tennis, which he stated will be an extremely successful year.
Moments before, the Governor was able to witness the colorful parade of the athletes who will be competing in this competition, where countries such as Germany, Argentina, Australia, Austria, Belgium, Benin, Bermuda, Bulgaria, Brazil, Canada, Colombia, Korea, Croatia are participating. , Denmark, Spain, United States, France Estonia, El Salvador, Great Britain, Hong Kong, Guatemala, Israel, Japan, Morocco, Mexico, Norway, Poland, Dominican Republic, Russia, Romania, Sweden, Thailand and Turkey.
