During this afternoon, the Tarapacá Gendarmerie institution announced the sudden death of the second sergeant, Edgardo Osvaldo Quezada Iraira, who died this Monday morning, after on Saturday while mountain biking, he had an arterial decompensation.

The official who worked in the statistical section of the Alto Hospicio Penitentiary Complex belonged to the Camanchaca Mountain Bike Club and always carried out expeditions on the slopes of the hills adjacent to Alto Hospicio and the city of Iquique.

On this occasion he was heading to the Los Verdes sector, through the upper part of the coastal hills, where he suffered decompensation and his sports and work colleagues helped him but they encountered the difficulty of not having good communication. to request help.

Two hours after the emergency occurred, a rescue arrived and took him to the Regional Hospital. Despite medical efforts, Quezada died this Monday at the beginning of the workday.

Edgardo graduated from the institutional school on July 1, 2004 and had 19 years of service, where his death surprised him with the rank of second sergeant at 43 years of age.

He is survived by his wife, three children, all minors, plus his parents and siblings. His comrades-in-arms remember him as an impeccable person, very humane and professional.

For the regional director, Colonel, Juan Carlos Zamora, the death of Edgar Quezada is a great loss for the institution.

“We are very shocked by the death of our work colleague. He was a person who knew how to earn the love and affection of his co-workers and was always willing to provide the best work in the functions entrusted to him. It is regrettable, because we say goodbye to a young person, a good friend and a better professional,” said the Colonel.

His funeral will be held (today) tomorrow, Tuesday, at 4:00 p.m., in the Parque del Sendero. His remains are laid to rest at the Cubillos Funeral Home, from where the funeral will leave in the direction of the Camposanto, an occasion in which an honor guard was raised for the eternal rest of the Gendarmerie official.
