Tremendous news for Chilean tennis. This Tuesday morning, the presence of our country for the United Cup 2024 was confirmed, a mixed tournament that will take place in Australia between December and January and that will open the next campaign.
The national cast was left, along with Brazil, with one of the two places that remained to be ratified. And all thanks to the spectacular 2023 that Nicolás Jarry had, who had the best season of his career by reaching the Top 20 in the world.
Jarry won two titles, in Santiago and Geneva, and reached the round of 16 at Roland Garrosperformances that allowed him to end the year in position number 19 on the planet.
According to the ATP, the “Prince” will be accompanied in the oceanic competition by Tomás Barrios, Alejandro Tabilo, Daniela Seguel and Fernanda Labraña.
“In its debut in the United Cup, Chile will play its matches at the Ken Rosewall Arena in Sydney as a member of Group B, a powerful pot next to No. 2 seeds Greece and Canada“, the organization published on its website.
Note that the tournament will start on December 29 and each qualifying round will be defined in one session and will include a men’s singles match and a women’s singles match with the highest-ranked singles players, followed by a mixed doubles match.
