The First Instance Chamber of the Supreme Court of Justice announced the meaning of the conviction against Juan Carlos Abadía, former governor of Valle del Cauca, who in the file of his case together with the Secretary of Education of the Valley, Eiber Navarro, in 2010 signed a cooperation contract with the Calimío Foundation.
They explain that the amount of that agreement was 1,072 million pesos, of which one billion was going to be borne by the department and the rest by the foundation, what was expected was to provide libraries for 40 educational centers in 10 municipalities of the department.
However, during the development of the process there were several proposals from bidders, but the former officials, they would have favored the firm that did not have sufficient experience.
“For the court it is evident that the defendant’s behavior is reprehensible because he acted with awareness of its illegality. Abadía Ocampo is an adult, with academic training who at the time of the events reported just over two years at the head of the Valle government”
They finally pointed out that Abadía will remain free until his sentence is handed down.
