From Izquierda Unida Córdoba, the provincial coordinator, Sebastián Pérez, expresses his “positive” assessment of the appointment of Sira Rego, MEP and spokesperson for IU, as Minister of Youth and Children in the new coalition government of PSOE and Sumar, a platform where IU is a member. The organization expects that this Government is a “engine of transformation, prioritizing the living conditions of the working class and addressing the real situations of our country.”

IU highlights that Sira Rego has been recognized for her work as an MEP and has worked on crucial issues for Córdoba, such as the El Cabril nuclear cemetery, the contamination of La Colada and the drought of Sierra Boyera. Her appointment generates “satisfaction and expectations” in the coalition that highlights her “commitment” to the province.

Furthermore, Sira Rego’s connection with The Palestinian reality reinforces its capacity for “commitment and solidarity”. From Izquierda Unida, they support his appointment and express their support, highlighting the importance of addressing “significant problems for youth and children in the province of Córdoba.” Among them, the need for policies that address “migration, provide opportunities for youth in employment, housing and universal and free quality public education” is highlighted. Finally, Izquierda Unida is “willing to collaborate” with the new minister to address these crucial challenges in the province.
