A fire captain who worked in San Jose was arrested in the city of Folsom in Sacramento County on charges of attempting to commit lewd acts with a minor.

The suspect identified as Spencer Parker is suspected of committing three serious crimes against a minor under 13 years of age.

Folsom police and the Sacramento County prosecutor’s office did not release much information about the case, however, they said that Parker allegedly sent inappropriate photos to the minor with the intention of having sexual relations.

“It is very unfortunate that these types of cases happen. Especially with a person you trust and who is close to the community,” said Ana González, spokesperson for Community Solutions.

González is a supervisor in the Sexual Assault Department at Community Solutions.

“I think it’s a good time to talk to our community about these types of things that could happen. Talk to young people so we can raise awareness,” González said.

For its part, the City of San José referred to the case through a statement saying:

“On Monday, April 1, 2024, the San Jose Fire Department was notified of the arrest of an employee, a Fire Captain, who was charged on April 3, 2024 with felonies. This individual is no longer an employee of the San Jose Fire Department. City. The arrest occurred in Sacramento County. The City cannot release any further information at this time as the investigation is ongoing.”

San Jose police said they are also conducting their own independent investigation into Parker.

Steven Clark, a legal analyst, said that in cases like these, police review all the devices the defendant had access to, including work computers.

“We trust the fire department to be in our homes. Being close to our children, and I think that makes this especially concerning for the prosecution to send a message that this is a position of trust,” Clark said.

Parker’s attorney in Sacramento told Telemundo 48 that his client will not make any statements.
