The National Police in La Guajira captured two people for the alleged crime of qualified and aggravated robbery. The events occurred in the Villa Fátima neighborhood, sector of Calle 1 and Carrera 3, and the capture took place in the Arriba neighborhood, on the 10th street with 5th street.

The captured people were identified as Kevin Alexander Vargas Atencio, who was carrying the firearm and the stolen item, and Luis Fernando Montes Cogollo, who was driving the motorcycle.

During the operation, a Motorola Moto G 22 cell phone, valued at $1,500,000, was recovered. In addition, a traumatic pistol without a cartridge and a TVS Sport KLS motorcycle were seized.

The events were recorded at approximately 9:30 a.m. on April 20, 2024. The quadrant was carrying out patrol work in the sector when they observed an individual pointing a firearm at a tourist, from whom he stole her cell phone.

After ignoring the order to stop, warning shots were fired, the individual threw away the gun and cell phone and tried to flee on a motorcycle.

The victim, a woman from Bogotá, recognized the detainees and filed the corresponding complaint. The police informed the detainees of their rights as people captured for the alleged crime of theft and remained at the disposal of the competent authorities to carry out the corresponding legal process. .
