Lucknow Super Giants vs Rajasthan Royals, IPL 2024 Match 44 Preview: Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) will be aiming to halt the Rajasthan Royals (RR) juggernaut and avenge their defeat against Sanju Samson’s men in their opening game of the 2024 Indian Premier League when the two sides meet in Lucknow on Saturday.

RR had handed LSG a 20-run defeat at Jaipur’s Sawai Man Singh Stadium in the fourth match of the season, with skipper Sanju Samson leading from the front with an unbeaten 82 off 52 balls. Only three Lucknow batters could enter double figures in the chase, with half-centuries from KL Rahul (58) and Nicholas Pooran (64 not out) going in vain as the visitors fell well short of the target at the end.

Rajasthan have been on a rampage since then, winning every single match except for their home game against Gujarat Titans in Jaipur, in which they had failed to defend a target of 197. RR currently find themselves at the top of the IPL 2024 table with seven wins in eight matches, and a victory on Saturday should all but confirm their place in the playoffs.

Lucknow, meanwhile, would bounce back from the defeat against RR with a hat-trick of wins, including a 33-run victory over GT at home that was also their first-ever win against the side currently led by Shubman Gill. They would lose their next two fixtures, against Delhi Capitals and Kolkata Knight Riders, but would claw their way back into the playoffs zone with consecutive victories against Chennai Super Kings.

The Rahul-led side currently are at the fourth spot with 10 points, and a victory on Saturday should take them to the second spot ahead of KKR and Sunrisers Hyderabad.
