In the last week of April, There were two stoppages of interurban buses that affected the entire service in Córdoba, within the framework of the protests organized by the Automotive Transport Industry Workers Association (AOITA), which has been demanding a salary improvement for more than three months. In this context, it was learned that on Monday they will hold a plenary session of delegates to define the steps to follow. If an agreement is not reached, they will begin a new measure of force for an indefinite period of time..

Emiliano Gramajo, the head of the union, advanced in Telenight (El Trece) that it is possible that there will be measures of force for an “indefinite period of time.” Along these same lines, he added that the last weekend of April transportation “will be normal” and that On Monday the 29th they will hold a plenary session of delegates to define how the situation continues.

“Yes, we have said that the next measure we take will be for an indefinite period,” said Gramajo. However, he stressed that it is not the idea to get to that point. “Someone has to solve this, we ask the State, our governor, the authorities.. Here we are talking about society, otherwise we have to start talking about first- and second-class citizens because it seems that the interurban is not of interest,” he emphasized.

Likewise, the AOITA spokesperson pointed out that unemployment“It’s not just a salary issue,” but they have reached a pointwhere the inflexibility that the other parties have makes us make these decisions“. For this reason, he explained that it is necessary to make improvements in the transportation system. Regarding salaries, he stated that “there were non-remunerative sums for a salary recomposition that came from December to February” and that in March the basic salary should have increased , which did not happen. Finally, he explained that they are waiting for “a real proposal” to solve the conflict.

Why the AOITA lifted the bus strike last Thursday, April 25

After having received a salary proposal to analyze, The AOITA did not carry out the bus stoppage last Thursday, April 25, as planned, and they moved it to Friday, since they did not reach an agreement. Meanwhile, they convened a general plenary session of delegates to debate the situation and ratified “the total stoppage of activities on Friday, April 26, for 24 hours in the event that the proposal is not considered satisfactory,” as reported in a release.

It should be noted that the union has been in a salary negotiation for three months and that in this framework they had carried out a stoppage of activities for 24 hours with total compliance last Monday. In this sense, Gramajo pointed out that they regretted “the inconvenience that this situation brought to the user public, but we are exercising the right of this organization to comply in defense of its workers.”

“This conflict is not only about a salary in line with the terrible moment that all workers are going through, but also because We need to redesign a new transportation system in the province of Córdoba that is in absolute decline“, they emphasized. Finally, and facing the discussion this Thursday, the union leader highlighted that this new salary proposal was the “result of the union and solidarity in the demand of all the workers grouped in AOITA where we hope to be satisfactory.”
