Manager of Los Ríos Convention Bureau delivered his evaluation after participating in the Technical Workshop Visit Fiexpo 2024 held in Santiago.
“The (Los Ríos) region is prepared for congresses and events with rooms that reach up to 800 people, using venues such as Huilo Huilo, Dreams, universities or other spaces,” said Juan Pablo Leiva, manager of the Los Ríos Convention Bureau later. to participate in the Technical Workshop Visit Fiexpo 2024 held in Santiago between April 22 and 24.
Leiva attended the event organized by Sernatur and FIEXPO Latin America, a platform founded in 2008 to promote Latin America and the Caribbean in the international meetings and incentives market.
“The buyers did not know Chile. And despite having only been in Santiago, they are positively surprised by the level of offer, the support of the regional bureaus, we also saw at an international level the image of the country does not reflect insecurity or anything similar, which is why Chile continues to be attractive and leader in many aspects,” explains the executive of the Los Ríos Convention Bureau.
Leiva assures that the great challenge is to bring these clients despite being far from markets such as Mexico, Panama or Colombia, which concentrate a large part of the international conventions.

“This reinforces the need to constantly carry out commercial actions to promote, since the region’s opportunities to attract conventions and international events are based not only on the landscapes and quality services, but also on the ability to have with prestigious universities and researchers who are an essential part of the reasons for holding an event in the region,” he says.
He adds that “organizations are also choosing sustainable destinations, with concrete proposals that positively impact the local community, offsetting the carbon emitted and I believe that Valdivia and different regional impact projects contribute in this line. We just need to provide more support to this industry that reduces seasonality, attracts better travelers and has a clear focus on sustainability and regenerative tourism.”
Juan Pablo Leiva added that the Los Ríos region is the ideal setting for events of different types. “To the traditional fairs, festivals and even congresses, we add other types of events such as corporate events and incentive trips, where we have a lot of room to grow,” he explains.
