Prosecutor José Alfredo Blanco confirmed that the street vendor Fernando Marcelo Sánchez (30), whose lifeless body was found on national route No. 34, died as a result of the serious injuries suffered after being hit by an unscrupulous driver who, far from stopping to help him, he fled, leaving him abandoned. He also indicated that the autopsy revealed that the cause of death was “hemorrhagic shock and severe cranial brain trauma.”

On the other hand, he maintained that the case is classified as “wrongful homicide in a traffic accident, aggravated by the circumstance of not having assisted the victim” and is awaiting the arrival of reports requested from the Highway Police, Road Safety and other organizations that could provide film records that allow the vehicle and driver to be identified.

It should be noted that the autopsy was carried out in the morgue of the Judicial Branch of the provincial capital, and it was confirmed that the death was the result of the impacts caused by the vehicles that were circulating in the area.

“The investigation continues because obviously the person who ran over the victim fled. We have requested a series of inquiries, including with the Highway Police in the north and south areas of the city, some of which we are receiving. We have to analyze images and videos, others have not yet arrived and we are waiting,” said the prosecutor.

He stated that after the autopsy was completed, the body was handed over to the next of kin and noted that it has become clear that the victim’s death occurred as a result of the impact of a vehicle. With these predictions, the prosecutor rejected the versions that showed that the body could have been thrown lifeless on the road, where it was hit by several vehicles.

“It has not yet been possible to establish who the perpetrator was because he fled without notifying the authorities, he did not assist the victim at any time. The incident is classified as ‘wrongful homicide in a traffic accident, aggravated by the circumstance of not having assisted the victim.’ We will wait to see what news we have in the coming days regarding the requests we made to the Highway Police and the road prevention agencies, many of which are stationed along the route. 34 to the north and south of this city, so that we can have a clearer picture, based on the report made by the forensic doctor, regarding the approximate time at which the death would have occurred,” said José Blanco.

The fact

As reported The Tribune of Jujuythe incident occurred on April 18, when shortly before 5 a.m., a male person went to the National Gendarmerie base reporting that on national route 34, in the sector between the Emilio Lozano bridge and the entrance to the city, there was a person lying on the pavement, in an alleged state of intoxication.

At that moment, the Police were involved, and a commission from the 35th Section of the San José neighborhood and Same personnel arrived at the scene. The paramedics confirmed that the person had no vital signs, and assistant prosecutor César Díaz was present, who arranged for Criminalistics experts to carry out the first examinations, which due to the prevailing darkness deepened when daylight arrived. The Prosecutor’s Office ordered that the body be transferred to the morgue of the San Pedro Judicial Center. A search was also carried out to determine if the victim was traveling along the route on a motorcycle or bicycle, without any trace being found.
