In a blow to drug trafficking, the Police managed to seize 800 kilograms of marijuana, as well as the arrest of a man and the immobilization of a vehicle.
This result was achieved thanks to information provided by citizens committed to the fight against crime.
The operation was carried out in the via Juncal – Neiva, kilometer 3, in the municipality of Palermo, department of Huila. The agents of the Huila Transit and Transportation Section, together with the Police Intelligence Group, stopped a truck whose driver showed signs of nervousness when he noticed the police presence and tried to evade control.
During the vehicle inspection, Agents discovered approximately 200 packages pressed in black plastic on the back of it. After opening the packages, it was confirmed that they contained marijuana. The driver was immediately arrested and placed at the disposal of the Prosecutor’s Office for the crime of trafficking, manufacturing or carrying narcotics.

Colonel William Javier Lara Avendaño, commander of the Huila Police Department, highlighted the importance of citizen collaboration in the fight against drug trafficking and reiterated the commitment of the Police in the region to combat this scourge. Likewise, he called on the community to continue providing information that helps dismantle criminal networks and arrest those who break the law.
According to the authorities, this operation is a clear example of the joint work between the authorities and citizens in the fight against drug trafficking, an illicit activity that causes serious damage to society, especially to young people. The Police in the department of Huila will continue to implement control plans on the roads to prevent and combat this type of crime.
