Eliécer Salazar, the representative committed to culture at Cesar

Valledupar is celebrating with the holding of one of its most important events: the Vallenata Legend Festival, an event that highlights the talent and cultural wealth of the region. This year, the great honoree is the teacher Iván Villazón, who, at the initiative of the representative to the Chamber Eliécer Salazar López, was decorated with the Simón Bolívar Order of Democracy, in the ‘Official Cross’ degree, a recognition of his great career. and contribution to vallenato folklore.

And it is, precisely, that identity recognized worldwide and that millions of people enjoy when listening to the songs, enjoying ancestral legacies, the food and the sun that submerges in the Guatapurí River, which Congressman Salazar López, who seeks to strengthen , through bills and propositions, has given a hand to artists in general, artisans and all those people who are dedicated to the creative industries.

From the Congress of the Republic, the representative promoted, as author, several articles of Law 2184 of 2022, “Through which regulations are issued aimed at fostering, promoting sustainability, valuation and transmission of the knowledge of artistic trades, creative and cultural industries, crafts and cultural heritage in Colombia and other provisions are issued”, through which it seeks to formalize the employment of all people who perform these trades, with comprehensive social security.

Starting from the fact that culture is the area where ideology is expressed most effectively, in the same law it proposed innovation for value groups, strengthening them, through free educational programs provided by the State, when there are changes, updates or new developments in the market or in the production processes of their goods or services, in order to reduce costs and achieve economic sustainability according to the needs of demand.

Without a doubt, these initiatives improve the quality of life of artists, those who, from their homes, create wonderful works with their hands; those who, high in the mountains of the Sierra Nevada and other Colombian landscapes, deliver art; those who, with their voice, outline anecdotes, stories through music. Eliécer Salazar wants to honor all of them, from his responsibility as a legislator and representative of Cesar: to recognize the journey of artists who take his territory to many corners of the world.

Another example of its management and commitment to culture is bill No. 122 of 2022, “By which LA MUDANZA FOLCLÓRICA is recognized as the intangible cultural heritage of the Nation”, an activity that was born and developed within the framework of the Festival. de la Paletilla, in Becerril (Cesar), which only needs one debate to become a Law of the Republic.
