Thanks to the coordinating work of the TOLIMA-HUILA SECTIONAL ANDI, the city of Ibagué has achieved significant progress in the field of urban mobility.

Through the collaboration of the Ministry of Transportation, with the University of Ibagué, the first Urban Mobility Observatory (OMTU) has been established in the city, which has been built and is managed by the aforementioned educational institution.

This observatory is hosted on the logistics platform of the Ministry of Transportation, which facilitates access to relevant information for decision-making in this area.

The presidency of the regional logistics alliance, at the head of the ANDI section, has played a fundamental role in making visible the work carried out by the University of Ibagué through the OMTU.

Thanks to this joint effort, it has been possible to highlight the importance of the collection and management of information in various aspects related to mobility, such as transportation, road safety and the quality of life of the inhabitants of Ibagué.

The main objective of the OMTU is to collect and manage information on different thematic axes related to urban mobility. Among the aspects addressed are road infrastructure, road safety, quality of life, public transport performance and active modes of transport.

This information is essential to support public decision-making that positively impacts the mobility and quality of life of Ibaguera citizens.

The establishment of the OMTU represents a significant milestone in the development of tools that contribute to better planning and management of urban mobility in Ibagué. According to the OMTU, Ibagué currently faces mobility and transportation problems, which have been increasing with the deterioration of much of the city’s road infrastructure.
