César Farías does not plan to resign from América de Cali. This was made clear this Sunday after the draw against Once Caldas in Manizales (0-0), which marked the end of a semester to be forgotten in the ‘scarlet’ team.
However, in the last few hours Farías himself denied the versions about his departure from the club. “As far as I know, it is not in doubt. They haven’t told me anything of what you are mentioning. Are you stating that if I leave?”, he counter-asked in the Palogrande stadium press room.
The journalist let him know about the rumors that point to his dismissal due to the premature elimination of the Betplay League. “Excuse me. Ratification of what if I have a contract until December? “I don’t understand why there has to be a ratification if I have a contract valid until December,” he said.
César Farías signed for one year in January, when he arrived at the Valle del Cauca team to replace Lucas González. This means that, if América plans to change its coach for the umpteenth time in the last two years, it should pay him compensation.
The Venezuelan believes that he still has room to get back on track and return the ‘red devils’ to the place they were aiming for in this first half.
And when President Marcela Gómez hired him, the idea was to obtain immediate results, including qualifying for the group stage of the Copa Sudamericana, something that did not happen. Added to that, ‘Don Tulio’ said on multiple occasions that for any American coach it is an obligation to be in home runs and if they didn’t achieve it they had to leave, however, this time there would be an exception.
Despite the pressure from the fans, Farías wants to continue and will not leave his position free unless an agreement is reached with the leadership to compensate him for the early termination of the contract they have signed until December.
The truth is that in America there are serious doubts about getting rid of the coach. The idea of giving him a second chance is gaining more and more strength and there is even talk of a possible ‘sweep’ in several fundamental positions for the approach of the former Águilas Doradas and Aucas de Ecuador coach.
