The director of INL, Police Interdiction of Anti-Narcotics Affairs and Law Enforcement of the United States for Colombia, together with directors of the country’s security agencies, visited the facilities of the port of Santa Marta.

The visit was carried out within the framework of the agreement of wills between the United States Embassy, ​​the Attorney General’s Office, the Anti-Narcotics Police and Sociedad Portuaria Regional de Santa Marta SA

Daniel J. Dyer, INL Police Interdiction Advisor (Anti-Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs Section) and Edwin Reyes, INL Port and Airport Security specialist, were received at the facilities of the Port of Santa Marta, who met with the president of Sociedad Portuaria, Domingo Chinea Barrera, and the vice president of Security, Carlos Suárez.

INL officials recognized that the Port of Santa Marta has been assertive in supporting the anti-drug authority with specific actions such as the provision of technological equipment, the expansion of the analysis room, the acquisition of scanners for boxes and packages, among others. Actions.

“They stated that all the technology that the Port of Santa Marta has provided will allow the information to be linked at a national and international level,” said a director of the port entity.

In the company of the Vice President of Security of Sociedad Portuaria, Carlos Suárez and the commander of the Santa Marta Anti-Narcotics Base, INL officials toured the facilities of the port terminal.

“Port Society thanks INL for all the support provided over the years to the Port and to the Anti-Narcotics Police to protect the port facility and guarantee safe foreign trade,” says Domingo Chinea, president of the Santa Marta Regional Port Society.

At the close of the visit, Sociedad Portuaria expressed its interest in renewing the agreement of wills, which it has led and accompanied since the beginning of the agreement; If the renovation is achieved, it would be the first port in the country to do so, and it would be aimed at guaranteeing the joint work of the Port of Santa Marta, the national authorities and the Government of the United States.
