After 8 days: accomplice in the murder of DJ Diego Herrera surrenders to serve preventive detention | National

Fernando Solar was detained, by virtue of the preventive detention ordered by the Court of Appeals a week ago, as an accomplice to the murder of Diego Herrera. The accused surrendered at the First Police Station of Concepción, after police did not find him at his house on Tuesday morning.

Fernando Solar, accused as an accomplice in the murder of DJ Diego Herrera, turned himself in before Carabineros to comply with the precautionary measure of preventive detention. issued by the Court of Appeals of Concepción, in the Bío Bío region.

It was on April 22 when the Penquista appeal court revoked the resolution of the Guarantee Court, which had rejected the change from nighttime house arrest to preventive detention for Solaras requested by the Public Ministry and the lawyer of the victim’s parents.

Hence the arrest order issued for the person accused of being an accomplice to the murder of the young DJ Diego Herrera (crime that occurred in July 2022), an order that neither the Carabineros nor the PDI complied with for eight days.

The situation only changed when Solar turned himself in at the First Police Station of Concepción this Tuesday, according to information from private defense attorney, Marcelo Villena.

“He was waiting at home for them to pick him up, an event that happened today (Tuesday), just as he had gone out to Yumbel to visit his father,” he said.

After this, “when Carabineros arrives, they communicate with him and he voluntarily goes to the Police Station and surrenders,” he added.

“He was never a fugitive, he never left or started,” he said.

In this case the investigation was closed, the accusation was presented and the case will go to trial, with the Prosecutor’s Office requesting 25-year prison sentence for Maximiliano López Hahn, who killed the victim with Fernando Solar’s gun. Hence his quality as an accomplice, with the latter risking a sentence of 10 years in prison if convicted..

The victim’s father, Carlos Herrera, only had what was indicated by Solar’s defense as information, but estimated that he should have turned himself in on the same day that his house arrest was revoked.

“He had to turn himself in on the day the Court of Appeals ruled preventive detention,” he clarified.
