The mayor of Puente Piedra, Rennán Espinoza, was involved in a car accident when the truck in which he was traveling with three other people overturned after colliding with a toll booth on the Panamericana Norte.

According to what was reported by TVPerú Noticias, the mayor was traveling at excessive speed and apparently intoxicated, which caused his vehicle to overturn on a main road.
According to the images released of the accident, you can see a box and several beer bottles inside the vehicle, which was destroyed and with the wheels up. The toll booth in Chillón was also destroyed after the accident.
The truck involved in the accident has been taken to the Puente Piedra police station, where the National Police has begun the corresponding investigations into the incident.
Roy Huallpa, head of communications for the district, has been arrested in connection with the accident and is believed to have been the driver of the vehicle at the time of the crash.
As reported by the municipality’s Press Area to RPP Noticias, the mayor is receiving medical attention privately, but it has not been confirmed if he has been admitted to a clinic. The mayor must go to make his statement before the authorities to find out the causes of this vehicular accident.
“Thank God nothing serious has happened, it was just a scare. There are no serious injuries. He is in stable health“, said the representative of Somos Perú, Ubaldo Pizarro, to the national channel.
