During a surprise operation that took place in Plaza La 21 in Ibagué, The Municipal Health Secretariat found several irregularities which revealed the lack of hygiene of some merchants when selling or displaying their products.

According to the report obtained by Econoticias, one of the establishments visited had “remains of decomposing meat”for which a temporary closure was ordered based on non-compliance with the hygienic-sanitary standards included in decree 1500 of 2007.

The authorities’ records also relate “absence of constant washing of refrigerators” and loss of the cold chain, thus affecting the quality of the meats sold in the main collection center in the capital of Tolima.

According to what was stated by the Mayor’s Office, There were also five warnings and a monetary punishment to merchants who, despite carrying out their activities within establishments, did not have all the documentation in force that allows them to operate.

In a parallel exercise, the Public Space Directorate, attached to the Government Secretariat, has been in charge of recovering tracks and platforms that are occupied with merchandise in market squares and some areas of the city center,
